Northern Cape Premier’s Bursary Offers Up to R120,000 for Unemployed Students

The Northern Cape Premier’s Bursary is open to unemployed South African residents of the province aged 18–30. Applications close on 31 October 2026, with awards of up to R120,000 depending on household income.
Official information checked on 26 October 2026. Reign Gigs is an independent publisher, not the funding provider. Selection and funding remain subject to the provider’s conditions.
Northern Cape Premier’s Bursary eligibility
Applicants must be pursuing an undergraduate first qualification at an accredited South African higher education institution. Current or former Grade 12 learners and enrolled students may apply. Financial need, academic performance and provincial skills priorities influence selection; STEM and applicants with disabilities receive priority.
Published award bands
The published household-income bands are R0–R350,000 for a R120,000 award; R350,001–R550,000 for R100,000; and R550,001–R800,000 for R80,000. The page does not specify that these amounts are annual or promise a separate allowance for every expense. Awards depend on budget and require a contract.
Documents to prepare
The official 2027 checklist requires the prescribed signed form, certified identification and recent results, acceptance and registration evidence, a curriculum plan, and household financial information. It lists three-month bank statements, SARS tax-status evidence, relevant SASSA records and supporting documents for unemployment, self-employment, guardianship or other family circumstances. Unemployed applicants aged 23–30 have an additional SARS-status requirement. Read the complete checklist because the evidence needed varies by family situation.
Application route and deadline
The programme lists submission at the Office of the Premier, T&I Office Building, 69 Memorial Road, Monument Heights, Kimberley, or by email to BursAdmin@ncpetf.onmicrosoft.com. Successful applicants should be informed by 27 February 2027. Late applications are excluded.
Check the form before completing it
The official checklist is labelled 2027, but the download link currently contains a 2026 filename. Do not change an official document yourself to resolve this mismatch. Ask the programme office which form it wants for the current call, using the contact details on its website.
Make a document checklist for your own circumstances, with a separate column for items still outstanding. Start with evidence that may require help from a school, bank, SARS or another household member. Allow time to check that names and identification numbers agree across the documents. These are editorial preparation suggestions rather than new eligibility conditions.
Build a realistic study budget
A headline award is not the same as a confirmed payment to you. Before committing to accommodation or other expenses, obtain written confirmation of an award, its payment arrangements and the costs it will cover. Keep your institution application moving independently and retain a copy of the funding submission and any acknowledgement.
