SANRAL Bursaries 2027 Offer Tuition and Accommodation Support for New Undergraduates

SANRAL Bursaries 2027 provide full or partial study support for eligible applicants. The current undergraduate call is for students entering their first year in 2027, with a closing date of 31 October 2026.
Official information checked on 26 October 2026. Reign Gigs is an independent publisher, not the funding provider. Selection and funding remain subject to the provider’s conditions.
SANRAL Bursaries 2027: study fields and eligibility
Undergraduate fields include Civil Engineering BSc/BEng, Public Procurement or Supply Chain Management, and Computer Science or Information Systems. Applicants need a 70% latest academic average, South African citizenship and age below 35. Study must be full-time at an approved public tertiary institution. Other bursary holders are excluded.
Full and partial awards differ
Both packages list registration, tuition, accommodation and wellness access. Only the full package additionally lists study materials, equipment, food and a living allowance. Selection considers academic merit and financial need. An award does not guarantee employment; recipients may apply for on-the-job training.
Apply through SANRAL
Follow the application link on SANRAL’s official bursary page. No application fee is charged. Prepare a one-page motivation, academic results, identification, tertiary application evidence, residence proof and the household documents requested by the form.
Closing-date inconsistency to note
The current call says 31 October 2026 and gives 31 January 2027 as the unsuccessful-feedback cutoff. A lower FAQ still refers to 30 September. Confirm the live portal date if it differs rather than relying on that older FAQ wording.
Make the qualification match clear
Compare the exact title of your intended degree with the programme’s subject list before preparing a long application. Put the qualification and institution consistently in the form, motivation and supporting documents. If your course title differs, ask SANRAL whether it qualifies instead of assuming that a similar subject is enough.
A useful motivation should explain your study plans in concrete terms: what you want to learn, why that qualification fits and how funding would address the gap in your education budget. Avoid claiming experience or achievements you cannot support. These are preparation suggestions, not a scoring formula or a promise of selection.
Before submitting
Review the package you are applying for against your likely study costs. Do not budget for food or a living allowance unless your written award includes them. Open each document after scanning, check legibility and save a complete application copy. If a confirmation screen or email is provided, retain it. Avoid sending another application simply because you have not yet received a funding decision.
Frequently asked questions
Is every award fully funded?

No. The school scholarship is a separate programme for learners in Grades 8–12.
Does the call include postgraduate applicants?
The same official page also describes an NQF Level 8 route with separate fields and academic requirements. Read that section if you are not a new undergraduate.
