Stellenbosch University Private Bursaries Offer Postgraduate Study Support for 2027
Stellenbosch University lists private bursaries for eligible full-time Honours, Master’s and doctoral students in 2027. These are limited supplementary awards rather than a general full-cost scholarship.
Funding and selection
Only a small number of students receive awards, and amounts depend on the funds available. The current application form restricts eligibility to South African citizens who have not already obtained a qualification at the same or a higher level. Selection also considers academic performance and each fund’s conditions.

Each fund has its own subject restrictions. The university’s list includes opportunities across humanities, education, sciences, engineering and other disciplines. Applicants should match their programme to a named bursary instead of assuming every fund covers every subject.

Visit the official Postgraduate Funding Office page, open the Private Bursaries section and use the 2027 application form. Although its URL contains 2026, the live form identifies the 2027 intake. Review the fund-specific conditions and submit the information requested by the university. This is separate from applying for admission or undergraduate SUFO funding.
Deadline and outcomes
The published annual deadline is the first Friday in December, which falls on 4 December in 2026. Outcomes are expected in May or June 2027. Do not commit to study expenses on the assumption that an award will be made.
