Kouga Town Planner Internship: R10,000 Monthly and a One-PDF Application

The Kouga Town Planner Internship offers a 12-month appointment paying R10,000 per month. Applications must reach the municipality by 12:00 on Friday, 6 November 2026. Applicants should pay particular attention to the requirement to send their application as one PDF.

Check the qualification and language requirements

The minimum is a relevant town-planning qualification at NQF level 6 or above. Applicants need computer literacy, planning-process knowledge, communication and report-writing skills, and the ability to speak, read and write in at least two of Afrikaans, English and Xhosa. SACPLAN registration is advantageous. Local residents receive preference.

What the Kouga Town Planner Internship involves

Work includes land-use applications, technical reports, public enquiries, complaints and spatial-planning support. These responsibilities make clear written reasoning and careful records useful skills to demonstrate.

Build a focused application

Choose one genuine academic or workplace example that shows how you analysed a planning question. Briefly explain the problem, the evidence you considered and the conclusion you reached. Identify your own contribution if the example came from a group project. Do not describe a university exercise as an approved municipal development.

For a writing example, focus on how you made a technical issue understandable. You could explain how you organised a report, checked a map reference or separated evidence from assumptions. The aim is to show a clear method rather than attach a large portfolio that has not been requested.

State your languages accurately, distinguishing speaking, reading and writing ability where useful. Avoid listing professional registration as complete if you have only applied for it.

Submit one complete PDF

Send the municipal form, CV, qualification copies, ID and driver’s-licence copy to recruitment@kouga.gov.za. The advert warns that multiple PDFs can cause disqualification. Read Notice 263/2026 and use the official application form.

Complete the form accurately, including its declaration and reference details. After combining the documents, reopen the final PDF. Check that every page is present, correctly oriented and readable at normal size. Give the file a descriptive name that identifies you and the internship without unnecessarily exposing your ID number.

Send early enough to notice a delivery error and keep your sent message and attachment. A sent email is not an appointment, and an interview invitation should be checked against the municipality’s details.

Before you finish

  • Check the recipient address character by character.
  • Confirm that your CV and form show consistent dates and qualifications.
  • Make sure the final attachment is the reviewed version, rather than an earlier draft.

Reign Gigs is an independent publisher. The municipality’s official notice governs recruitment. Information checked on 5 November 2026; the notice does not specify a timezone.
