DENOSA Bursary 2027 Offers Partial Study Support for Nursing Members
The DENOSA Bursary 2027 provides a small contribution towards study expenses for qualifying nursing members. It is a targeted professional-development opportunity, not a general school-leaver scholarship or a promise to cover an entire qualification.
DENOSA Bursary 2027: the funding available
The Study Fund Committee describes its awards as once-off donations covering only part of the cost. Continued assistance requires a new application rather than automatic renewal. No fixed award amount is stated in the current general notice.
Applications close on 31 January 2027; late submissions are excluded. Results will be communicated in April 2027 at the earliest. Applicants should not assume an award will arrive before registration expenses fall due.
Membership and course eligibility
Members need at least two immediately preceding years of fully paid-up DENOSA membership. They must remain paid up for the supported academic year and throughout the course. The general form is for registered nurses or midwives who have undertaken approved post-basic work.
- For a post-basic nursing bachelor’s degree, at least half the programme must already be passed, with proof.
- A post-basic diploma longer than one year also requires at least half completed; one-year courses are exempt from that condition.
- Short courses should be SANC-listed; otherwise a motivation must explain their nursing-practice value.
- Bridging-course applicants must have passed the first year.
Prepare the official application
The form requests qualification records, professional experience, membership details, course information, income and a breakdown of expenses. Include evidence of acceptance and 2027 registration. Where registration evidence is unavailable by the deadline, the form allows an arrangement with the secretary to provide it later.
Sign before a Commissioner of Oaths and include the required certified documents. Disclose paid study leave and other funding. Awards are paid to the institution, not to the applicant’s personal account. Continuing recipients must submit annual progress reports.
A practical funding plan
The following is independent planning guidance, not an additional DENOSA condition. Create a simple budget with separate rows for registration, tuition, assessments, books and any travel. Record what is already paid, what an employer has committed to cover and what remains uncertain. This helps you explain the gap without presenting the same expense twice.
Keep the qualification name consistent across your application, institution letter and academic record. If your records use an older course name, ask the institution for clarification rather than editing an official document yourself. Scan each attachment clearly, check that every page opens and give files descriptive names that make the application easy to review.
Because this is partial support, identify a realistic plan for the remaining cost before making financial commitments. Ask your institution about payment arrangements directly. Do not resign, abandon another confirmed funding arrangement or purchase expensive equipment solely because you have applied for this bursary.
