AfrikaBurn Offers Part-Time Internships With a R5,700 Monthly Stipend

AfrikaBurn internships offer recent graduates part-time work experience with a R5,700 monthly stipend. The placements run for up to five months and support the organisation’s creative and administrative work. Applications are considered on a rolling basis, with a final date of 27 November 2026.

AfrikaBurn internships: eligibility and support

Applicants need a diploma or degree at NQF Level 6 or above, preferably in the arts, and must not already receive PESP4 funding through another project. The programme is based at AfrikaBurn’s Salt River headquarters in Cape Town.

Activities can include communications, archiving, development, volunteer coordination and event support. The advert asks for office-software, digital, communication and research skills, together with knowledge of AfrikaBurn. Selection requires Art Bank of South Africa approval.

The maximum five-month stipend totals R28,500. A shorter placement should not be presented as guaranteeing that full amount. Exact working hours and an individual start date are not confirmed in the advert.

Making an application relevant to creative administration

A good application can show how you combine an interest in creative work with reliable organisation. Think about a project where you collected information, kept records or helped a team complete a shared task. Explain what you personally did and what changed because of your contribution.

For communications experience, describe the audience, the format and the checks you used before publishing. For archiving, explain how you named files, organised material or made information easier to retrieve. If your experience comes from a student project or voluntary work, identify it honestly rather than presenting it as formal employment.

It can help to prepare a small, relevant selection of work examples before writing your motivation. Only share material you have permission to disclose. Avoid uploading private information about other people, confidential project files or copyrighted assets that you are not authorised to distribute.

How to apply

Email jobs@afrikaburn.com with the subject Internship. Attach a motivation letter, CV, proof of qualifications and an ID copy certified within the past three months.

  1. Read the complete official advert and check the funding eligibility restriction.

  3. Check that your documents are clear, readable and correctly named.
  4. Confirm the recipient and subject line before sending.
  5. Keep a copy of the submitted email and attachments for your records.

The employer also lists bank-account and SARS registration evidence among documents required for selected candidates. Distinguish that later-stage information from the initial application checklist, and follow direct instructions from the verified employer. Reign Gigs does not collect personal documents.

Planning before accepting a placement

Part-time does not automatically mean remote, evening-only or flexible around every existing commitment. Ask the employer to confirm the practical schedule, worksite expectations and start date if you reach the selection stage. Consider transport and other costs when deciding whether a placement is workable for you.

These planning suggestions are independent guidance. They do not change the advertised eligibility conditions or guarantee an offer.
