The Tax Faculty Bursaries Support Online Occupational Certificate Study
The Tax Faculty bursaries for 2027 support online occupational-certificate study for financially disadvantaged, academically deserving applicants. Applications close on 6 November 2026 at 10:00; the announcement does not specify a timezone.
Choose the correct qualification route
- Tax Technician, NQF 6: an NQF 4 qualification including Accounting and Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy.
- Tax Professional, NQF 8: the form specifies a BCom in tax, law or accounting, or equivalent NQF 7 study with at least two semesters of tax and accounting and a 65% average, or an Occupational Certificate: Tax Technician.
Both application forms require current work experience in taxation. This extra condition is not stated in the short announcement. Both forms identify the January 2027 intake, starting on 22 January, and state that an outcome cannot transfer to another intake.
Award amounts and exact cost coverage are not stated. Do not assume tuition, equipment, data, living costs or every study expense will be covered.
Application and selection dates
The official announcement links separate Technician and Professional application forms. Both linked forms were accessible during our check. Later stages may contain additional instructions; read the complete application before submitting.
Qualifying second-phase applicants are due to access diagnostic assessments by 9 November; assessments close 20 November at 10:00. Outcomes are scheduled for 7–9 December 2026.
Prepare before beginning a form
Use your academic records to check the exact level and subject content of your qualification. Do not assume that a similar-sounding course meets an entry requirement. If the match is unclear, ask the provider through its official contact channel before making a declaration.
Read all instructions on the application form before uploading anything. Follow the actual document list presented there rather than a checklist copied from an unrelated bursary. Keep personal records private and avoid sharing identity documents in social-media comments.
For online study, consider where you will study, how you will access classes and how study time fits around your other responsibilities. Separately identify costs you may need to cover yourself. A funding offer is easier to evaluate when you understand both what it pays for and what remains your responsibility.
Questions to resolve before accepting an award
- Which fees and study-related costs are included?
- Are there progress, attendance or assessment conditions?
- Are any costs payable by the learner?
- What equipment or connectivity is needed?
These are suggested questions, not additional advertised eligibility rules. Review the actual offer and its terms before agreeing to a commitment.
Frequently asked questions
Should I submit both forms automatically?
First identify which qualification matches your prior study. Follow the provider’s directions if you are considering more than one route.
Does applying secure a bursary?
No. An application is a request for consideration. Continue to track the official process and retain any submission confirmation you receive.
