Eligibility and workplace learning
You must be an unemployed South African citizen with the relevant completed higher-education qualification and must not previously have benefited from either a company-funded or MQA-funded internship. The general MQA criteria accept only N6 Diploma graduates from TVET colleges; this does not replace a stream’s higher qualification requirement. Designated groups receive preference under the stated employment-equity provisions.
Work differs by stream: geoscience and GIS involve petroleum data and interpretation; software work includes applications, databases and digital tools; environment work covers compliance exposure; procurement supports supply-chain administration; the law placements cover corporate governance or licensing and legal compliance.
Documents and deadline
Apply through the email for your chosen stream by 9 November 2026 at 16:30 SAST. Provide certified copies of your academic record or results statement, degree certificate or completion letter, Matric certificate and South African ID. The advert says all these documents are required and late applications will not be considered.
Important GIS contact discrepancy
PASA’s official LinkedIn recruitment announcement, as indexed on 1 November, lists GISintern@petroleumagencysa.com. The linked PDF prints a different domain spelling. The PDF had not been corrected when checked. Verify the latest official announcement or confirm the GIS address through PASA before sending personal documents; do not send to both spellings. The official careers page lists +27 21 938 3500 for contact, not as an alternative application route.
Frequently asked questions
Are final-year applicants eligible before completing? The notice requires a completed relevant qualification and completion evidence.
