Simon Fraser University Offers CAD 140,000 International Entrance Scholarships for Fall 2027
Simon Fraser University is accepting applications for its Fall 2027 Undergraduate Scholars Entrance Scholarships competition. International school-leavers can compete for a CAD 140,000 award, distributed across eight payments of CAD 17,500. The programme recognises academic achievement alongside contributions outside the classroom.
Applicants should still compare the award with their full study budget.
Scholarship benefits
Alongside the international scholarship, SFU may offer exceptionally talented students with demonstrated financial need an additional CAD 8,000 per term. The entrance FAQ also confirms priority course enrolment and residence access, subject to the relevant housing deadlines.
Who can apply?
Candidates must be applying for Fall admission, have at least a 90% admission average or 31 IB points excluding bonus points, and show excellence in academic and extracurricular activities. They must finish secondary school in the admission year, or have graduated in the preceding year without beginning post-secondary courses. Check the requirements for your first-choice degree carefully: satisfying a general scholarship threshold does not replace programme admission requirements.
How to prepare your application
Begin with the university admission application so you can obtain the SFU student number needed to access the scholarship form. Prepare a concise record of meaningful activities, explaining your contribution and what changed because of your involvement. A few specific examples are more useful than unsupported claims about leadership or impact.
Approach potential referees early and give them sufficient background to write accurately. Share your intended course, relevant achievements, and the dates they need to meet. Keep your account details, application reference, and document checklist together so you can follow up systematically.
The separate admission guidance confirms that academic and community references and all admission and scholarship documents must meet the supporting-document deadline. Monitor your student account rather than assuming that uploading one document completes the entire file.
Deadlines and selection
The scholarship application closes on 15 December 2026 at 11:59 p.m. Pacific time. Supporting documentation is due on 31 January 2027. SFU’s published timeline places assessment in February and March, with offers issued between March and May. Most offers require acceptance by 1 May, but the date in an individual offer letter governs.
Final high-school results and course enrolment are checked before funding starts. According to SFU’s entrance FAQ, recipients normally need at least 12 enrolled units for a scholarship payment, and funding is credited to the student account in the second week of classes. Review the award’s own terms before accepting, particularly the rules for future instalments.
