CERN Short-Term Internship 2026: Gain Practical Experience with a CHF 1,593 Monthly Allowance
CERN is accepting applications for its 2026 Short-Term Internship in Geneva, offering one to six months of practical training and a monthly allowance.
What the internship offers
The fully onsite placement involves supervised projects and work alongside specialists in technical or administrative fields. The monthly allowance is CHF 1,593 for a full month, proportionally adjusted for shorter periods. Paid leave applies to contracts lasting at least four months.
Who can apply?
You must be at least 18, remain a full-time student in an eligible diploma, bachelor’s or master’s programme, and have working English or French. Your studies should involve a relevant technical or administrative discipline.
Only eligible CERN member/associate-state nationals can apply. The current vacancy excludes Pakistani, Lithuanian, Latvian, Cypriot, Croatian and Turkish nationals because applicable participation ceilings have been reached. Check the live list before applying.
Insurance and documents
Your university must ensure comprehensive insurance valid in the Geneva area, covering medical expenses, accidents and relevant disability risks. CERN uses its own traineeship agreement rather than signing university-issued external documents.
