United Nations Human Rights Office (OHCHR) is offering fellowship positions for 2027 under its Humanitarian Funds Programme. About the Fellowship Programme

The OHCHR Humanitarian Funds Programme manages two key funds:

  1. United Nations Voluntary Fund for Victims of Torture
  2. United Nations Voluntary Trust Fund on Contemporary Forms of Slavery

The fellowship aims to:

  • Train professionals in evaluating grants and projects addressing slavery and torture
  • Conduct research and analyze developments related to human rights violations

Fellowship Details

Eligibility Requirements

Experience:

  • Minimum of two years’ experience in human rights issues related to contemporary forms of slavery and/or torture
  • Experience in providing support to survivors is required
  • Project management experience is desirable

Languages:

  • Working-level spoken and written English required
  • Fluency in French or Spanish desirable
  • Knowledge of Arabic, Chinese, or Russian is an advantage

Other Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of the United Nations system is desirable
  • People with lived experience of slavery or torture who support other survivors are strongly encouraged to apply
  • Applicants involved in organizations receiving support from the Humanitarian Funds are encouraged to apply
  • Must be available for the full duration of the programme
