The World Bank Treasury Summer 2025 Internship presents an unparalleled opportunity for college students to gain hands-on experience in finance, innovation, and international development. Interns will work in Washington, DC, earning between $21.30 per hour (net for non-U.S. citizens) and $26.00 per hour (gross for U.S. citizens) while gaining direct insight into the operations of one of the most influential financial institutions in the world.


Tasks

Interns will engage in an intensive training program featuring three rotations across different Treasury teams, allowing them to develop a well-rounded perspective on global finance and economic development. Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting in financial market analysis, asset liability management, and sustainable finance initiatives
  • Conducting research and preparing reports on global economic trends, investment strategies, and treasury operations
  • Supporting capital markets, investment management, and asset advisory teams with data analysis and risk assessment
  • Collaborating on financial technology innovations and client solutions for international development projects
  • Presenting findings and strategic recommendations to Treasury officers, managers, and directors
  • Participating in networking sessions with senior executives, industry experts, and fellow interns
  • Engaging in a capstone project to showcase learned skills and knowledge to World Bank Treasury leaders

Throughout the program, interns will also have the opportunity to meet with senior executives, including the Vice President & Treasurer of the World Bank, further expanding their professional network.

Qualifications

Education and Certification

To be eligible for the World Bank Treasury Summer Internship, applicants must meet the following academic requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in a four-year undergraduate degree program
  • Must be in their second-to-last year of studies, planning to graduate between December 2025 and September 2026
  • A demonstrated interest in finance, business, economics, or related fields
  • Strong academic standing at their college or university

Experience

While previous work experience is not required, candidates with the following skills and background will have an advantage:

  • Prior exposure to finance, banking, investment management, or international development
  • Experience with financial modeling, data analysis, or risk assessment
  • Familiarity with Excel, Python, Bloomberg Terminal, or other financial tools
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and research skills
  • Ability to work full-time in Washington, DC, for the entire duration of the internship
