Key Responsibilities:

1. Project Support: Provide vital support to the “Promotion of Integrated Biodiversity Conservation and Land Degradation Neutrality in Highly Degraded Landscapes of Iraq” project. This includes analyzing national priorities, coordinating meetings and workshops, conducting field missions, and ensuring timely reporting. Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a liaison between UNEP, the Ministry of Environment, and other relevant stakeholders, facilitating effective communication and collaboration for programme development and implementation related to environmental indicators and assessment in Iraq. 3. Project Development and Monitoring: Contribute to the development, implementation, and evaluation of projects and activities. Monitor project progress, identify challenges, propose solutions, and liaise with relevant parties to ensure successful outcomes. 7. Data Analysis and Reporting: Collect and analyze data, identify trends, and prepare insights using data visualization methods. Support in drafting various written outputs, including reports, papers, and presentations.

Qualifications:

• Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in Environmental Management, Environmental Science, Agricultural Sciences, Natural Sciences, or a related field. A first-level university degree with relevant experience may be accepted.
• Successful completion of degree or non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics, or data science is desirable.

Experience:

• Minimum of two (2) years of professional experience at the national level in implementing and monitoring technical cooperation projects, preferably in environmental management.
• Experience in socio-economic development is desirable.
• One (1) year or more of experience in data analytics or related areas is desirable.

Language Requirements:

• Fluency in both English and Arabic is required.
• Knowledge of another UN official language is desirable.

• This position is open to nationals of Iraq only.
• Initial appointment is for one (1) year with the possibility of extension.
