The United Nations System Staff College (UNSSC) is currently seeking an Associate Fellow – E-learning to join its esteemed Knowledge Centre for Leadership and Management (KCLM). As an Associate Fellow – E-learning, you will be an integral part of the KCLM team, contributing to the development and delivery of advanced e-learning solutions. The role will involve collaboration with instructional designers, multimedia designers, IT specialists, and subject matter experts to create engaging, interactive, and pedagogically sound learning experiences. You will help shape the future of learning at the UN by applying cutting-edge instructional design practices, incorporating emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI), and ensuring the seamless delivery of e-learning content.

Tasks

As an Associate Fellow – E-learning, you will have a range of responsibilities aimed at ensuring the successful design, development, and implementation of e-learning courses and training programs. Below are the key tasks and duties associated with the role:

1. Instructional Design & Development

  • Collaborate closely with the Chief Instructional Designer and Senior Instructional Designer to apply instructional design principles tailored to e-learning projects.
  • Ensure the application of sound pedagogical (teaching) and andragogy (adult learning) principles in the development of courses and training materials.
  • Align course content with the desired learning outcomes, ensuring that materials are relevant, engaging, and effective for the target audience.
  • Work on the design and development of self-paced modules and online courses that incorporate best practices in e-learning and technology-enhanced learning.
  • Identify additional learning materials, strategies, and resources necessary for effective learning outcomes.

2. Quality Assurance & Evaluation

  • Ensure that all e-learning content, including course websites, self-paced modules, and associated documents, meet high standards of pedagogical quality.
  • Review and analyze the effectiveness of e-learning programs, making recommendations for continuous improvements.
  • Conduct ongoing evaluations of course content to ensure it remains relevant, accurate, and up-to-date.

3. Technology Integration & Content Development

  • Utilize e-learning authoring tools, such as Articulate Storyline and Adobe Captivate, to design and develop engaging e-learning materials and update existing courses.
  • Explore and incorporate emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), into the instructional design process to enhance learning experiences.
  • Work with IT specialists to integrate AI-driven tools for content validation, plagiarism detection, and language refinement.

4. Collaboration & Coordination

  • Work with internal and external stakeholders, including subject matter experts, multimedia designers, and IT specialists, to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Coordinate production activities for e-learning courses, ensuring that timelines, quality standards, and goals are met.
  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure that e-learning products align with the organizational goals of the UNSSC and its partners.

5. Research & Development

  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in instructional design and AI technology, ensuring that UNSSC’s e-learning programs are at the forefront of educational innovation.
  • Conduct research on emerging trends and technologies in the e-learning and instructional design fields to continuously improve UNSSC’s training offerings.

6. Project Management

  • Assist in the management of multiple e-learning development projects, ensuring that deadlines are met, and the learning objectives are successfully achieved.
  • Work with external production vendors and in-house teams to manage instructional design contracts and deliverables.

7. Client Engagement & Support

  • Provide guidance and support to clients, including UN staff, in the design, development, and implementation of e-learning programs.
  • Ensure the quality and accuracy of instructional materials by addressing client feedback and adjusting course content as needed.

Qualifications

Education & Certification

  • Advanced University Degree in adult learning, instructional design, educational technologies, or a related social science field.
  • Certification or training in e-learning tools and platforms, such as Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, or other content authoring software, is highly desirable.

Experience

  • At least 2 years of professional experience in Learning Management System (LMS) administration, e-learning instructional design, and development.
  • Solid experience in the use of e-learning authoring software, such as Articulate Storyline or Adobe Captivate, and familiarity with content management and curation tools.
  • Experience in project management and client engagement in an international or diverse work environment is an asset.
  • Previous experience working with UN organizations or other international organizations is a strong advantage.

Language Skills

  • Fluency in English (both spoken and written) is required.
  • Proficiency in other UN official languages (e.g., French, Spanish, Arabic, etc.) is an asset.
