Overview

Established in 1951, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) is a related organization of the United Nations and is the leading UN agency in the field of migration. IOM works closely with governmental, intergovernmental, and non-governmental partners to promote humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. This is achieved by providing services and advice to governments and migrants. IOM is dedicated to the principle that humane and orderly migration benefits migrants and society.

Context

Background Information

IOM’s People Strategy, aligned with the IOM Strategic Plan, emphasizes equality, diversity, and inclusion as cross-cutting priorities. The strategy aims to implement the guidelines set forth in IOM’s Gender Equality Policy and Race Equity and Equality Strategy. These principles are integral to IOM’s staffing strategy and are reflected in the organizational culture and operations.

The IOM mission in Colombia seeks to align itself with this strategy by formulating and implementing concrete actions within the human resources unit to promote equality, diversity, and inclusion. This internship is designed to lay the necessary foundations (design and implementation) of these strategies in the mission.
