The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) is the specialized agency of the United Nations that promotes industrial development for poverty reduction, inclusive globalization, and environmental sustainability. The Human Resources Unit (HRU) plays a crucial role in supporting UNIDO’s mission by ensuring the effective management of human resources. The HRU is responsible for various HR functions, including recruitment, contract management, staff development, and administrative support. UNITAR Vacancy Alert: Human Resources Assistant Position Available
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Under delegated authority, the Human Resources Assistant will be responsible for various duties, including:
- Assistance in HR-related Surveys, Statistics, and Reports:
- Prepare HR-related reports under minimal supervision.
- Conduct research on various HR matters within and outside the UN system.
- Update rules, procedure tables, and databases as necessary.
- Support in Recruitment and Contract Management:
- Process applications for vacancies, including reviewing vacancy requests and preparing vacancy announcements.
- Review applications, organize interviews, and ensure the transfer of candidate files between offices.
- Initiate and follow up on reference checks and academic verifications.
- Calculate salaries, benefits, and prepare offers of appointment.
- Prepare relevant documentation required for recruitment processes.
- Assistance in HR Administration:
- Review and process requests for staff entitlements and claims.
- Maintain staff official status file and other HR-related files.
- Prepare personnel actions in Quantum and provide guidance/training on e-Service.
- Review requests for badges, travel documents, and UN certificates.
- Support in Onboarding, Separation Processes, and Entitlements:
- Assist with onboarding processes for new staff members.
- Provide support in separation processes and entitlements.
- Prepare attestations/certificates for staff, fellows, and collaborators.
- Management of UNITAR e-Recruitment Tool and Other HR Management Tools:
- Manage UNITAR e-Recruitment tool and contribute to the development of other HR management tools.
- Review contract requests and prepare contracts for various categories of personnel.
- General Administrative Support:
- Perform a variety of office administrative duties, including managing supplies and drafting correspondence.
- Provide logistical support for training courses, workshops, and other events.

RESULTS EXPECTED:
The Human Resources Assistant is expected to achieve the following results:
- Provision of reliable research, administrative, and general office support services.
- Processing work with minimal supervision, seeking advice when needed.
- Ensuring accuracy and completeness of documentation submitted by candidates, staff, and offices.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Education: Completion of high school or equivalent diploma.

- Language: Fluency in English and French; knowledge of Spanish desirable.
