Background & Job Description

UNICEF is calling for applications from highly qualified experts and trainers to join its Consultancy Roster for Ukraine. This initiative aims to mobilize professionals with specialized expertise to support UNICEF’s strategic objectives in the country. The consultancy assignments will align with UNICEF’s Country Programme Document (2025-2029) and the Gender Strategy for Ukraine, ensuring a child-focused, rights-based, and gender-responsive approach to recovery and development.

Selected consultants will provide technical assistance, training, research, and advocacy across various programmatic sectors, focusing on the most pressing issues facing Ukrainian children and families.

Key Sectors for Consultancy Roles:

  • Child Protection & Psychosocial Support: Strengthening gender-responsive child protection systems, mental health support, and family-based alternative care.
  • Education & Youth Empowerment: Training in gender-transformative education, vocational training, and comprehensive sexuality education for adolescents.
  • Health & Nutrition: Maternal and child health, immunization, and gender-sensitive nutrition programs.
  • Social Protection & Policy Development: Gender-responsive budgeting, cash transfers, and integration of social welfare programs.
  • Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH): Gender analysis of WASH policies, capacity building, and community engagement.
  • Climate Change & Sustainability: Promoting female leadership in climate action and gender-responsive adaptation strategies.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education:

  • Advanced degree (Master’s or equivalent) in Gender Studies, Social Sciences, Public Policy, Education, Health, or related fields.
  • A first-level university degree with two additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of an advanced degree.

Experience & Skills:

  • At least five years of relevant work experience in programmatic areas aligned with UNICEF’s mandate.
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and delivering capacity development programs on gender equality and child rights.
  • Strong research, policy development, and advocacy skills.
  • Deep understanding of the Ukrainian context, including crisis-related challenges facing children and families.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and data analysis tools.

Language Requirements:

  • Fluent in Ukrainian (C2 Level) – required.
  • English proficiency – an advantage.

  • Consultants will be contracted on a per-assignment basis with clear terms of reference and timelines.
