Tasks
Interns at UNEP are assigned to various departments and may be involved in a wide range of tasks, including:

Qualifications
Education and Certification
Applicants must, at the time of application, meet one of the following requirements:
- Be enrolled in a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher).
- Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent).
- Have graduated with a university degree and, if selected, must commence the internship within one year of graduation.
- Preferred fields of study are typically related to environmental sciences, law, business, economics, communications, or other fields relevant to the work of UNEP.
Experience
These internships are designed for students and recent graduates, so no prior professional work experience is required. However, applicants should possess:
- A demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and a personal commitment to the ideals of the UN Charter.
- The ability to successfully interact with individuals from different cultural backgrounds.
- Fluency in oral and written English is required.
- Knowledge of other UN official languages (such as French, Spanish, or Arabic) is desirable.
- A strong ability to work collaboratively in a team.
