Background & Job Description

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is seeking a Research Analyst to support the SDG Financing and Private Sector Development portfolio. This full-time position is based in Istanbul, Türkiye and focuses on research, strategic planning, and stakeholder engagement to advance financing for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The selected candidate will contribute to knowledge management, policy guidance, and project execution, particularly in Morocco, Senegal, and the Republic of Congo, as part of the Platform for Investment Support and Technical Assistance (PISTA) initiative. The role involves conducting in-depth research, facilitating private sector engagement, and developing reports and proposals to support sustainable financing strategies.

Tasks

  • Conduct research on private sector involvement in SDG financing
  • Develop high-quality policy materials and reports
  • Support program planning, execution, and risk assessment
  • Organize stakeholder meetings, workshops, and training sessions
  • Engage with investors, market players, and development partners
  • Prepare project proposals, concept notes, and funding reports
  • Manage documentation and maintain records related to the project
  • Identify and map potential funding sources and partners
  • Provide support in procurement and contracting processes
  • Contribute to investment landscape analysis and SDG-aligned initiatives

Qualifications

Education & Certification

  • Master’s degree in international relations, law, political science, economic development, business administration, or a related field
  • OR a Bachelor’s degree with an additional two years of relevant experience

Experience

  • With a Master’s degree: No prior experience required
  • With a Bachelor’s degree: At least 2 years of research experience in sustainable investments/finance
  • Experience in project design, implementation, and investment landscape analysis is an advantage
  • Prior work with UN/UNDP/International organizations is a plus
  • Proficiency in using MS Office (Word, Excel, etc.)

Languages

  • Fluency in English & French is required

Additional Information

  • Contract Type: International Personnel Service Agreement (IPSA-8)
  • Contract Duration: 6 months (up to 130 working days)
  • Location: Istanbul, Türkiye
