Background & Job Description
The UNDP is actively supporting the Government of Ethiopia’s National Rehabilitation Commission (NRC) in implementing a DDR program. This initiative is a direct result of the peace agreement that ended the conflict between the Government of Ethiopia and the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF). The program’s goal is to disarm and reintegrate over 370,000 former combatants into civilian life, fostering peace and stability. The Programme Associate will play a pivotal role in ensuring the effective delivery of this project, anchored within the Governance Unit.
Tasks
- Support the implementation of program activities and the formulation of project documents and work plans.
- Facilitate capacity-building workshops and consultative meetings in coordination with the NRC.
- Assist in forging and managing partnerships with various government and non-government stakeholders.
- Provide comprehensive reporting and communication support, including data collection and analysis for monitoring and evaluation.
- Ensure knowledge-sharing and support operational tasks like staff and premises management.

Qualifications
Education and Certification
- A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field with at least 3 years of experience.
- A High School certificate with 6 years of progressively responsible administrative or project experience is also accepted.
Experience
- A minimum of 3 years of experience with a bachelor’s degree or 6 years with a high school diploma.
- Experience in program or project planning, implementation, and monitoring is an asset.
- At least 2 years of experience working with the UN system is a strong asset.
Additional Information
This is a full-time, one-year contract based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Fluency in both English and Amharic is a mandatory requirement. The position is a National Personnel Service Agreement (NPSA-6) vacancy, signifying it’s open to Ethiopian nationals. The deadline to apply is September 11, 2025.
