Background & Job Description
The UNDP Graduate Programme is designed to equip young professionals with the skills, knowledge, and global exposure needed to shape the future of international development. First launched in 2021, it aims to strengthen UNDP’s workforce diversity and build a pipeline of future leaders.
Participants are deployed for a two-year international assignment in a UNDP country, regional, or headquarters office. Previous cohorts have seen graduates posted in the United States (New York HQ), Turkey, Thailand, Jamaica, Switzerland, Samoa, Bhutan, Maldives, Philippines, and more.
The program offers two main work streams:
- Programme and Policy: Supporting UNDP’s development projects and initiatives.
- Corporate Operations: Enhancing management services, processes, and organizational efficiency.
Tasks for UNDP Paid Graduate Trainee Program 2025
- Contribute to advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
- Support UNDP’s policy, programme, or operations work depending on assigned stream.
- Participate in knowledge-sharing, innovation, and digital initiatives.
- Engage in team collaborations across diverse cultural and professional backgrounds.
- Take part in a structured Formation Journey (customized learning and development plan).
Qualifications
Education and Certification
- Master’s degree (or equivalent) with a maximum of 1 year of relevant work experience, OR
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with 2–3 years of work experience.
Experience
- Strong interest in international development and the SDGs.
- Demonstrated ability in systems-thinking, innovation, or digital skills.
- Fluency in English (spoken and written). Knowledge of French, Arabic, or Spanish may be an asset for certain roles.
- Willingness and readiness to live and work abroad for 2 years.

- Applicants must be nationals of UNDP programme countries.
