The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) established the Graduate Programme in 2021 to attract and nurture young professionals dedicated to advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The initiative strengthens workforce diversity, builds organizational capacity, and creates a pipeline of future development leaders.
Over two years, participants are placed in UNDP offices worldwide—whether in country offices, regional hubs, or headquarters—where they gain hands-on experience in policy, programme, or operations work. Beyond assignments, participants benefit from mentorship, structured training, and career development opportunities within the UN system.
Tasks
Participants will:
- Engage in programme and policy activities aligned with UNDP’s development priorities.
- Contribute to corporate operations, supporting management services, processes, and oversight.
- Collaborate with multicultural teams in dynamic international environments.
- Undertake professional learning through tailored training and exposure to innovative tools.
Qualifications UNDP Graduate Programme 2026/28
Education and Certification
- Master’s degree (or equivalent) with up to one year of relevant work experience.
- OR a Bachelor’s degree with two to three years of relevant work experience.
- Fields of study should be linked to international development, economics, social sciences, or related disciplines.
Experience
- Strong academic record with demonstrated interest in international development.
- Skills in systems-thinking, digital solutions, and innovation.
- Fluency in English (working knowledge of French, Arabic, or Spanish is an advantage).
- Must be a national of a UNDP programme country.
- Willingness to live and work abroad for a two-year period.
