Job Context

The Communications Analyst will work within UNCDF’s Strategic Communications Unit to strengthen the organization’s web and visual design capabilities, ensuring alignment with the organization’s strategic communication goals and branding guidelines.

UNCDF focuses on providing technical and financial advisory services, building local financial systems, and mobilizing private and public capital to support sustainable development in the world’s least developed countries.

Key Responsibilities

1. Branding and Visual Identity

  • Redesign and centralize visual identity materials for UNCDF.
  • Ensure adherence to branding guidelines across all external publications and visibility products.
  • Identify and incorporate visual communication trends into UNCDF’s digital presence.
  • Manage design projects, including photo and video editing, graphic design, and multimedia content creation.

2. Website Design and Management

  • Oversee the day-to-day maintenance and functionality of UNCDF’s corporate website and sub-sites.
  • Coordinate web-based content publishing, including stories, videos, blogs, and event pages.
  • Lead the corporate website redesign process and evaluate potential CMS migrations for efficiency.

3. Research and Digital Outreach

  • Conduct research on emerging digital trends and suggest strategies to enhance digital reach.
  • Coordinate timely publication of press releases, campaigns, and promotional materials.

4. Knowledge Sharing and Advocacy

  • Contribute to knowledge networks and communities of practice.
  • Develop knowledge-sharing platforms and resources to engage project partners.

Reporting and Institutional Arrangement

The incumbent will report to the Strategic Communications Advisor in the UNCDF Directorate and collaborate with communications colleagues in headquarters and field locations.


Qualifications

Education

  • Master’s degree in Communication, Journalism, Digital Media, or a related field.
  • Alternatively, a bachelor’s degree with two additional years of relevant experience.

Experience

  • Master’s degree holders: No professional experience required.
  • Bachelor’s degree holders: Minimum two years of relevant experience in graphic design, media relations, and multi-sectoral programming.
  • Proficiency in graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro).
  • Experience in web design and content management systems (CMS).
  • Familiarity with video editing, branding, and mass media communications.

Skills

  • Knowledge of multimedia software and digital communication strategies.
  • Ability to design visually compelling content across multiple formats.
  • Understanding of media protocols, including reporting and publishing standards.

Languages

  • Required: Fluency in English.
  • Desired: Working knowledge of another UN language.
