Background & Consultancy Description
The United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) plays a crucial role in combating desertification, land degradation, and drought (DLDD). Since its establishment in 1994, UNCCD has led global efforts to promote sustainable land management. One of its key initiatives, the G20 Global Initiative on Reducing Land Degradation and Enhancing Conservation of Terrestrial Habitats (G20 GLI), aims to cut degraded land by 50% by 2040 through capacity-building, private-sector engagement, and knowledge-sharing.
To boost engagement and reach wider audiences, UNCCD is seeking a YouTube Content Manager (Consultant) to manage, optimize, and grow the G20 GLI YouTube channel by producing compelling video content that aligns with its goals.

Key Responsibilities
The YouTube Content Manager will:
📌 Develop & Execute Video Content Strategy
- Conceptualize, produce, and edit high-quality, engaging videos tailored for the G20 GLI YouTube channel.
- Create storyboards, scripts, and production schedules based on the editorial calendar.
- Ensure all videos align with G20 GLI branding, messaging, and UNCCD representation guidelines.
- Optimize videos for YouTube algorithms, including metadata, tags, descriptions, and captions.
📌 Video Production & Editing
- Film, edit, and produce at least 2 high-quality videos per week.
- Incorporate animations, graphics, subtitles, translations, and audio enhancements to maximize accessibility and engagement.
- Handle the entire production process, from pre-production planning to post-production editing.
- Manage lighting, sound, equipment setup, and directing video shoots when required.
📌 Content Performance & Growth Strategy
- Track and analyze YouTube engagement metrics (views, watch time, audience retention, shares, etc.).
- Provide strategic recommendations for content improvements to enhance audience reach.
- Collaborate with social media and communications teams to amplify video distribution.
- Store and organize video archives for long-term accessibility.
📌 Event Coverage & On-Site Filming
- Capture highlight videos and photo carousels from commissioned events.
- Attend G20 GLI meetings and missions to gather on-site footage and interviews when necessary.
Deliverables
✅ Production Calendar – Plan and schedule video releases based on the editorial timeline.
✅ Weekly Video Content – Deliver at least two high-quality videos per week.
✅ Event Highlights – Produce recap videos and visuals from G20 GLI events.
✅ Additional Video Requests – Create custom video assets as required.
Contract Details
- Duration: 114 days (from April 15 – October 15, 2025).
- Location: Remote, with potential travel for filming (expenses covered by UNCCD).
- Compensation: Paid based on days worked (timesheets required).
- Ownership: All video content produced is the exclusive property of UNCCD.

Required Qualifications
📍 Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, Journalism, Public Relations, Social Sciences, or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in video production, editing, and post-production.
- Strong expertise in YouTube content creation, optimization, and analytics.
📍 Technical & Creative Skills
- Proficiency in video editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, etc.).
- Experience in motion graphics, animations, and subtitling.
- Familiarity with YouTube SEO, algorithm optimization, and audience growth strategies.
- Knowledge of brand positioning and maintaining brand consistency.
- Photography & Videography skills, including camera operation, lighting, and sound setup.
📍 Preferred Skills
- Background in environmental sustainability, land restoration, and climate action is a plus.
- Experience working with UN agencies or international organizations is desirable.
- Fluency in English (written & spoken) is required; knowledge of another UN language (French, Spanish, Arabic) is an advantage.
