Background & Job Description

The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), a specialized agency of the United Nations and international financial institution, is inviting applications for its 2025 Internship Programme (IP) and Enhanced Internship Programme (EIP). These six-month internships offer young professionals a chance to contribute to the fight against global rural poverty.

Interns will be placed in various departments including agriculture, rural development, finance, communications, and policy support. Enhanced interns receive additional support, including travel and housing stipends.

Tasks

• Assist with research, data collection, and project documentation
• Contribute to ongoing programmatic or policy work
• Support internal and external communications
• Participate in team meetings and strategic planning
• Collaborate across departments and international teams

Qualifications

Education and Certification

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or postgraduate program, or recently graduated (within the last 12 months)
• Completed at least two years of undergraduate study

Experience

• Strong academic background and interest in international development
• Fluency in English; knowledge of an additional IFAD language is an advantage
• For Enhanced Internship: applicants must not be based in Rome and may be placed in regional offices (local language fluency may be required)
