Background & Job Description
The Sexual Violence Research Initiative (SVRI) has opened applications for its Young Professionals Programme (YPP) ahead of SVRI Forum 2026, set to take place in Bangkok, Thailand. This program is tailored for early-career professionals aged 35 and under who are working on issues related to gender-based violence (GBV) and intend to present at the global Forum.
The SVRI Forum is a premier global platform for research, practice, and innovation on violence against women, violence against children, and other forms of gender-based violence. Through the YPP, selected participants will benefit from a pre‑abstract mentorship phase in 2025 and receive a fully funded bursary to attend the SVRI Forum 2026, even if their final abstract is not accepted for presentation.
SVRI Forum Young Professionals Programme 2025
Tasks
Participants in the YPP will:
- Submit a pre‑abstract via Oxford Abstracts outlining the research they aim to present
- Receive 1:1 mentorship from a senior expert affiliated with SVRI
- Get tailored feedback on framing, methodology, analysis, and abstract recommendations
- Refine and finalize an official abstract submission for SVRI Forum 2026
- Gain support to prepare and present their research if accepted
- Receive bursary funding to attend SVRI Forum 2026 in Bangkok
- Network and engage in professional development opportunities at the Forum
Qualifications
Education and Certification
- Must be 35 years old or younger (born in 1990 or later)
- Must be working on topics aligned with SVRI Forum 2026 themes (e.g. gender-based violence, violence against children, feminist research, intersectional justice, etc.)
Experience
- Must be an early-career researcher or practitioner
- Must be committed to submitting an abstract to SVRI Forum 2026
- Must not have participated in a previous SVRI Young Professionals Programme
