The Standard Bank Group Bursary Programme 2025 is designed to empower the next generation of African talent and leaders. Open to both undergraduate and postgraduate students, this bursary supports academically strong and financially deserving candidates in fields critical to Africa’s development.
Eligible fields of study include Agriculture, Commerce, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer and Data Science, Actuarial Science, Information Technology, and emerging disciplines like Behavioural Economics, Psychology, Sociology, and Neuroscience.
This full-cost bursary ensures that students can focus on their studies without the burden of financial pressure and also supports their career progression by offering employment opportunities at Standard Bank upon graduation.
What the Bursary Covers
Successful applicants will receive comprehensive financial support, including:
- Full university tuition fees
- Accommodation in a university residence or private accommodation (within set limits)
- Meals – catered or self-catering
- Books and learning materials
- A laptop computer
- A monthly stipend for personal and living expenses
- Transport allowance (home-campus travel up to 4 times per year)

Qualifications
Undergraduate Bursary
- Must be completing their 1st year and require funding from 2nd year onward
- Must have obtained 65% or above in recent examinations
- Must be registered full-time in one of the funded fields
- Applicants will undergo psychometric assessments and interviews
- Financial need will be taken into account
Postgraduate Bursary
- Must be registered full-time for a postgraduate qualification at a public South African university
- Must have achieved a 65% average or higher in latest academic results
- Will undergo formal assessment and interview
- Financial need considered
