The Individual Giving team at UNICEF has recently introduced several subscription products, developed in collaboration with leading global children’s brands. Notably, the launch of Paddington’s Postcards, a product in partnership with the iconic Paddington Bear, has been successfully expanded into various markets. The role we are offering seeks to build on this success and diversify Individual Giving programs globally. In 2024, there is a significant opportunity to scale Paddington’s Postcards with the release of ‘Paddington in Peru,’ a live-action animated adventure comedy film scheduled for Q4 2024. Purpose of Assignment:
This role supports the expansion of UNICEF’s program for both existing and new regular giving subscription products. The Consultant Marketing Product Specialist will lead the development and execution of an integrated marketing plan to promote Paddington Postcards in conjunction with the release of the ‘Paddington in Peru’ movie. Specialist in Marketing Products Through Campaign and Product Marketing
This involves coordinating stakeholders from corporate, partnerships, individual giving, legal teams, and across market teams. The role also serves as a key contact for markets piloting new products, offering product management expertise to optimize outcomes. Additionally, the role provides product, intellectual property (IP)/licensing advice, and digital marketing expertise to markets. Scope of Work:
Creation of Integrated Marketing Plan for Paddington Postcards Proposition:
- Consult with project stakeholders, including Corporate, IG, Partners, and markets, to consolidate launch requirements.
- Liaise with Partners (StudioCanal and Vivendi) and internal stakeholders to define campaign scope, aligned objectives, and assets.
- Develop a campaign scope brief for a creative agency, lead the procurement process, and nominate the creative agency to work on the brief in collaboration with the FMS team.
- Collaborate closely with the agency and FMS team to support the delivery of an integrated marketing plan, assets, and toolkits for activation.
- Agree on KPIs, reporting mechanisms, and share learnings with markets.
- Support the FMS team, collaborate with markets on the plan, and provide sufficient time for localization and adaptation to local contexts.
- Ensure the quality and correct scope of agency deliverables. Specialist in Marketing Products Through Campaign and Product Marketing
Subscription Product Program Development:
- Act as the main contact for markets regarding new subscription product launches and product development queries.
- Provide specialist advice on marketing and product strategy to support markets in piloting and growing subscription products. Specialist in Marketing Products Through Campaign and Product Marketing
- Ensure clear understanding of guidelines and responsibilities for pilots, including legal and contractual agreements.
- Filter questions through to Corporate Partnerships Manager.
- Document existing subscription products and report product performance across participating countries regularly.
- Manage the Global IG Products intranet site, including a library of key documents.
- Share learnings proactively across markets to maximize program performance.
- Provide regular progress updates for key stakeholders, including the Corporate Partnerships team globally and UNICEF UK office.
- Identify opportunities for scaling or developing centrally in collaboration with the FMS team, Digital Strategists, and Country Focal Points. Specialist in Marketing Products Through Campaign and Product Marketing
IP Licensing Center of Knowledge:
- Act as the main contact for markets with queries related to pilots and new subscription product launches, specifically regarding the use of new IP or extending existing IP agreements.
- Maintain the documented approach for IP management within the subscription product format.
- Answer queries from markets and provide advice on adopting new IP in response to local market demand. Specialist in Marketing Products Through Campaign and Product Marketing
Product Strategy and Innovation Support:
- Collaborate with Digital Strategist and Country Focal Points to identify growth opportunities and engage key stakeholders for testing products in their markets.
- Utilize the marketing framework and segmentation model to refine the positioning, proposition, and messaging of subscription products. Specialist in Marketing Products Through Campaign and Product Marketing
- Co-lead and co-manage the product strategy in partnership with Marketing Manager, IG.
- Monitor, benchmark, and develop subscription products across UNICEF, inside and outside the category, tracking trends, developments, and commercial impact.
Work Assignments Overview – Deliverables/Outputs:
Subscription Product Program Launch:
- Support the launch of Paddington’s Postcards in the USA in Q1 2024.
Subscription Product Program Development – Key Deliverables:
- Deliver three weekly sprints to execute on the defined Sprint deliverables.
- Maintain a timeline of pilots and a pipeline of opportunities, ensuring timely delivery and positive feedback from key stakeholders.
- Provide monthly progress updates for key stakeholders, including the Corporate Partnerships team globally and UNICEF UK office.
- Document existing subscription products and create a monthly performance report across all participating countries. Specialist in Marketing Products Through Campaign and Product Marketing
- Manage and update the monthly Global IG Products intranet site, including a library of key documents.
- Prepare a biannual report to benchmark and develop subscription products across UNICEF, inside and outside the category, tracking trends, developments, and commercial impact.
- Provide an annual report on subscription product performance with recommendations for optimization, changes, and commercial performance.
Creation and Delivery of Integrated Marketing Campaign for ‘Paddington in Peru’ Movie Release:
- Consolidate requirements for the movie launch from key stakeholders.
- Create an agency brief.
- Develop and execute an integrated marketing plan.
- Support the FSM team in creating and delivering assets and toolkits to markets for the launch of Paddington’s Postcards campaign for the release of the movie ‘Paddington in Peru.’
- Work with markets to address activation queries and deliver the marketing campaign.

To qualify as an advocate for every child, you will have…
Education:
- Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or higher) in Marketing, Business, and/or Communications is required. A first-level university degree, with an additional 2 years of relevant professional work experience, will be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree. Experience:
- At least five years of progressively responsible and relevant professional work experience in marketing and product planning and/or integrated marketing is required.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in project managing integrated marketing campaigns, including paid media marketing, is required. Specialist in Marketing Products Through Campaign and Product Marketing
- Experience in integrated marketing planning is essential.
- Experience in product management roles and/or product marketing is highly desirable.
- Experience working in subscription products is highly desirable. Specialist in Marketing Products Through Campaign and Product Marketing
- Experience working in or with content providers and licensing partners is desirable.
- Experience working in global organizations and projects crossing multiple markets is desirable.
- Knowledge of the United Nations or other international aid or NGOs is desirable.
