Seeking Talented Individuals: Communications Graduate Trainee Role with Plan International
About the Communications Graduate Internship
Reporting to the Communications Coordinator, the Communications Graduate Intern will play a vital role in designing and conveying Plan International Zimbabwe’s values and image to stakeholders. From developing creative concepts to producing graphics for publications and online platforms, the intern will contribute to enhancing Plan International’s visibility and impact through visual communication.
Key Responsibilities
- Creative Design: Develop initial creative concepts and produce finished design products that align with Plan International’s brand guidelines. The intern will collaborate with the communications team to brainstorm ideas and translate concepts into visually appealing designs.
- Graphics Production: Create graphics and infographics for publications, internal websites, and online presence. The intern will use Adobe Creative Suite software, including Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, and Fireworks, to design visual assets that effectively communicate key messages and information.
- Web and Social Media: Assist in producing web and social media pages to engage audiences and promote Plan International’s initiatives. The intern will work closely with the digital communications team to develop compelling content for various online platforms, ensuring consistency in branding and messaging.
- Brand Compliance: Review publishing and design outputs to ensure compliance with Plan’s Brand Manual and provide feedback to offices as needed. The intern will help maintain brand consistency across all communications materials, including publications, reports, and promotional materials.
- Sub-branding: Plan and design sub-brands and guidelines for campaigns and initiatives to maintain consistency across communications. The intern will collaborate with the communications team to develop branding strategies and visual identities for specific projects and events.
- Supplier Management: Collaborate with external suppliers to ensure the quality and value of design services and recommend new suppliers when necessary. The intern will liaise with printers, designers, and other vendors to coordinate the production of communication materials, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget constraints.
- Training and Development: Identify design skills gaps within Plan and conduct training sessions to enhance staff capabilities. The intern will help build internal capacity in graphic design and visual communication, providing guidance and support to colleagues as needed.
- Brand Compliance: Ensure compliance with Plan Zimbabwe’s corporate branding and publishing standards. The intern will serve as a custodian of Plan International’s brand identity, ensuring that all communications materials adhere to established guidelines and reflect the organization’s values and mission.
Entry Qualifications and Experience
- Recent graduate with a degree in Visual Communications and Multimedia Design, Communication, Journalism, Mass Communication, or Media and Society Studies.
- Proficiency in Adobe CS software, including Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, and Fireworks.
- Excellent proofreading skills and ability to maintain high levels of confidentiality.
