Background & Job Description
Unitaid, a global health initiative hosted by the World Health Organization (WHO), invests in innovative solutions for diseases like HIV/AIDS, TB, and malaria in LMICs. The Regional Manufacturing for Equitable Access (RMEA) initiative was established to address global supply chain vulnerabilities exposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, focusing initially on strengthening regional manufacturing in Africa. This fully remote consultancy will support the RMEA team in coordinating project implementation, managing stakeholders, organizing events, and drafting technical reports, directly contributing to Unitaid’s mission of sustainable and equitable health product access.
Tasks
The Consultant will support the RMEA team through various strategic and operational tasks, including:
- Transition Support: Aid the RMEA program’s transition from inception to implementation, ensuring milestones are met.
- Event Coordination: Plan and coordinate at least three key RMEA events, managing logistics and partner coordination.
- Stakeholder Relationship Management: Develop and implement a stakeholder strategy, facilitating communication with manufacturers, public health institutions, and policy actors.
- Operational Partnerships: Lead the formation and operationalization of at least one partnership agreement.
- Internal Team Coordination: Create and implement an internal coordination tool to enhance team efficiency.
- Reporting & Documentation: Draft three technical reports, ensuring alignment with Unitaid’s guidelines.

Qualifications
Education and Certification
Essential: A university degree in engineering, pharmacy, life sciences, public health, project management, or business/public administration. Desirable: An advanced degree or professional training in health product manufacturing or development.
Experience
Essential: A minimum of 5 years’ experience in project or grant management, including proposal development, feasibility assessment, and implementation. Proven experience in multi-stakeholder LMIC environments and hands-on involvement along the health product manufacturing value chain (R&D to commercialization). Solid background in healthcare manufacturing processes, supply chain systems, and regulatory requirements. Desirable: Project management experience in supply chain, product development, quality assurance, market access/regulatory affairs, or intellectual property. Familiarity with public health project design in LMICs.
Additional Information
This is a fully remote position, open to consultants worldwide, though some travel for meetings and site visits may be required. The contract is for 11 months and offers a competitive monthly remuneration of USD 7,000 – USD 9,980, based on qualifications. Please note that living expenses are not covered for remote consultants.
