Background & Job Description

Plan International is a development and humanitarian organization that works in over 75 countries. The organization’s Monitoring, Evaluation, Research, and Learning (MERL) team is central to their mission, ensuring that programs are evidence-based, effective, and accountable. As a Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) Officer, you’ll be responsible for developing and implementing M&E frameworks, collecting and analyzing data, and reporting on project progress. While many roles are country-specific, Plan International increasingly offers remote and “globally flexible” positions, allowing you to support their mission from a home office.

Tasks

  • M&E System Management: Develop, implement, and maintain M&E frameworks, tools, and databases in compliance with Plan International standards.
  • Data Collection and Analysis: Oversee the collection of both qualitative and quantitative data, ensuring data quality and conducting thorough analysis.
  • Reporting: Prepare timely and high-quality M&E reports for internal use and for external donors, highlighting project progress, outcomes, and lessons learned.
  • Capacity Building: Provide technical assistance and training to project staff and local partners on M&E best practices and tools.

Qualifications

Education and Certification

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field such as Social Sciences, Development Studies, or International Relations.
  • Certifications in Monitoring and Evaluation (e.g., from institutions like the American Evaluation Association or similar) are highly desirable.

Experience

  • At least 3 years of proven experience in a similar M&E role, preferably within a development or humanitarian organization.
  • Strong technical skills in data collection methodologies and analysis using software like Excel, Power BI, Kobo, or SPSS.
  • Experience in developing and implementing M&E systems for programs related to children’s rights, gender equality, and humanitarian response.
  • Excellent writing, analytical, and communication skills are essential.
