Background & Job Description
VisionFund, the microfinance arm of World Vision International, is seeking a dedicated Research Intern to support its mission of ending intergenerational poverty through financial products and services. This three-month, remote internship provides an opportunity for students and recent graduates to contribute to the development and growth of microfinance institutions (MFIs) that empower communities and create sustainable economic growth. Interns will support VisionFund’s efforts to leverage tools, resources, and best practices to help MFIs scale and achieve impactful results for underserved communities.

As a Research Intern, you will assist in creating a centralized library of educational tools and financial resources, conducting interviews, analyzing industry best practices, and helping identify potential funding opportunities to support VisionFund’s initiatives.

Tasks

  • Resource Development: Review current educational tools and programs, assess the financial education approaches of MFIs, and create a centralized library for gathered resources.
  • Research and Analysis: Conduct research on industry best practices in financial education, climate education, and other key areas, compiling a list of technical experts and potential collaborators.
  • Fund Mapping: Assist in identifying funding opportunities and competitive advantages for VisionFund, supporting the development of proposals for potential funders.
  • Knowledge Management: Contribute to the development and organization of knowledge management systems to ensure efficient access to vital information across teams.
  • Business Development: Get involved in identifying and exploring business development opportunities that drive growth and innovation within the microfinance sector.

Paid World Vision Remote Research Internship for Students

Qualifications
Education and Certification:

  • Current student or recent graduate in research, development studies, communication, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated interest in international development, financial inclusion, and humanitarian work.

Experience:

  • Strong research skills with the ability to analyze data and generate insights.
  • Familiarity with knowledge management and fund mapping practices.
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with stakeholders at various levels.

Additional Information

  • Location: Remote within the United States, available to students and graduates in states where World Vision is registered as an employer.
  • Time Commitment: Full-time (24-40 hours per week) for the internship period, running from May 27 to August 22.
  • Stipend: Unpaid, but a monthly stipend of $800 is provided to help offset expenses.
  • Eligibility: Candidates must be at least 18 years old, eligible to work in the U.S. (U.S. citizen/resident or F1-student visa), and able to commit to at least 24 hours per week during the internship period.
  • Application Requirements: Applicants must adhere to World Vision’s Christian Statement of Faith and be willing to use their own devices for internship tasks.
