The Opportunity
As the Youth Engagement Officer, you will be responsible for supporting youth-led initiatives and promoting meaningful participation among young people. This role offers the chance to work closely with project managers, campaign leads, and youth partners to drive collective action on climate change and other key issues. Responsibilities and Accountability
Program Implementation
- Support high-quality project implementation and compliance with project design and planning.
- Facilitate youth learning and engagement in climate change initiatives, including administrative tasks.
- Coordinate with stakeholders, partners, and community organizations to provide strategic support services.
- Contribute to project scaling-up strategies and sustainability efforts.
Youth-led Campaign and Advocacy
- Develop and communicate youth engagement strategies across Plan International programs.
- Play a key role in youth-focused campaigns such as Powering the Movement and Girls Get Equal.
- Strengthen the movement for child rights and gender equality through collaboration with youth groups and coalitions.
- Represent Plan International at national and international forums related to youth and campaign agendas.
Management and Operations
- Assist in developing annual plans and budgets for youth engagement and campaign activities.
- Collect data and prepare reports on youth engagement and campaign initiatives.
- Manage administrative tasks related to campaign and advocacy efforts, including contracts and TOR development.
Requirements for the Role
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields such as youth studies, international development, or gender studies.
- 1-2 years of experience working on development programs, preferably with a focus on youth engagement.
- Excellent communication skills in both English and Bahasa Indonesia.
- Knowledge of gender equality, children’s rights, and NGO development programming.
- Strong understanding of child and youth-led initiatives and monitoring and evaluation practices.
- Good network with youth groups and organizations in Indonesia.
- Ability to design, implement, and evaluate programs that promote meaningful youth participation.
- Teamwork, networking, and facilitation skills, with the ability to build internal and external networks.
- Capacity to handle conflicts with tact and composure.
