How Can You Make a Difference?

Summary of Key Functions/Accountabilities:

  • Technical Support: Provide technical support to UNICEF Chile personnel in hardware and software issues, including troubleshooting and resolving problems.
  • User Orientation: Offer on-the-job training to end-users, building their capacity to use UNICEF standard software correctly.
  • Installation and Configuration: Install and configure new software and equipment for the organization.
  • Application Support: Assist the ICT unit in introducing and operating organizational IT applications, ensuring they are installed and available to users.
  • Vendor Interaction: Report equipment problems to vendors and coordinate service calls for repairs, ensuring follow-up and resolution.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain an updated inventory of ICT equipment, coordinating closely with the Admin Unit’s focal point for non-expendable property.
  • System Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as data backups, network monitoring, system diagnostics, patch management, virus removal, and system optimization.
  • User Administration: Assist in administering user access to ICT systems and databases.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other tasks as required by the ICT unit’s work plan.

Impact of Work

The ICT Assistant’s work is critical for effective operations at the Chile Country Office and its Zone Offices, enhancing UNICEF’s ability to support services for women and children, promoting social equality in the country.


Qualification Requirements

  • Education: Completion of secondary education, preferably supplemented by technical or university courses in computer science, information technology, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or network engineering.
  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in ICT, including hardware/software installation, user support, and end-user documentation. Experience in an international organization or multicultural environment is an asset.
  • Certifications: CISCO Meraki Network administration experience and ITIL certification or knowledge are assets.
  • Language: Fluency in Spanish and working knowledge of English.
  • Education Compensation: A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field may compensate for three years of experience, and a master’s degree may compensate for an additional two years.
