About UNFCCC

Your Role
As the Associate Programme Officer, you will play a crucial role within the NDC Technical Support unit, assisting in diverse activities aimed at advancing climate action, particularly within the Industrial Transition Accelerator (ITA) framework. Your responsibilities will span a wide spectrum, encompassing strategic support, stakeholder engagement, data management, and more.
Responsibilities
- Supporting the Implementation of the ITA Strategy and Work Programme:
- Assist in implementing the ITA’s work programme, conducting research on industrial decarbonization initiatives, and coordinating events and meetings related to ITA activities.
- Contribute to the preparation of materials, reports, and presentations for ITA initiatives.
- Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration:
- Engage with relevant partners and stakeholders, fostering meaningful collaborations and partnerships.
- Facilitate communication with governmental and non-governmental entities, providing necessary support.
- Data Management and Analysis; Documentation and Reporting:
- Manage data related to ITA activities, analyze progress and outcomes, and prepare substantive inputs for meetings and events.
- Contribute to the drafting of documents, reports, and other written outputs as needed.
- Other Job-related Activities:
- Undertake additional tasks as required to support the goals and objectives of the team, division, and secretariat.
- Represent the secretariat in technical meetings, workshops, and seminars as needed.

Qualifications
- Educational Background: Possess an advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in environmental/climate studies, engineering, data science, economics, or a related field. Alternatively, a first-level university degree coupled with substantial professional experience in the field may suffice.
- Experience: Bring at least 2 (two) years of relevant professional experience in climate change, sustainability, energy, global sectoral mitigation policy analysis, or related fields. Familiarity with climate action, particularly in industrial decarbonization, is advantageous.
- Language Skills: Exhibit fluency in written and spoken English. Proficiency in another UN official language is desirable.
