Background & Job Description

Johannesburg Water (JW), a municipal entity owned by the City of Johannesburg, is offering structured internship opportunities to help unemployed South African graduates gain valuable work experience in various departments. These internships are part of a public sector initiative aimed at developing the next generation of skilled professionals in the water and sanitation sector.

The internship runs for 24 months and is available to applicants between the ages of 18 and 35. These positions are aimed at graduates who have not previously participated in an internship. Preference will be given to women and individuals with disabilities. Johannesburg Water will not cover transport or accommodation, so applicants are expected to make their own arrangements.


Tasks

Interns will be assigned roles based on the department they are placed in. The roles may include but are not limited to:

  • Assisting in daily operations and administrative duties
  • Conducting data entry and reporting
  • Supporting community outreach and stakeholder communication
  • Learning and applying technical knowledge relevant to the assigned field
  • Participating in training sessions and mentorship programmes

Education and Certification

Each internship post has its own educational requirement:

  1. Metering and Revenue (x1 Post)
    • Diploma or Degree in Information Technology or Data Administration
