Background & Job Description
The Ireland Fellows Programme enables early to mid-career professionals from eligible African countries to study full-time master’s degrees in Ireland. The goal is to support leadership, sustainable development, and build long-term cooperation with Ireland.
Programmes begin in August or September 2026 and last between 10–16 months. Fields of study include agriculture, engineering, health, human rights, computer science, business, and more. This article is only for informational purposes and is not affiliated with the Irish government.
Tasks
- Undertake a master’s programme at a recognized Irish university
- Select up to three courses from the Directory of Eligible Programmes
- Commit to SDG-focused leadership in your home country after graduation

Qualifications
Education and Certification
- Hold a bachelor’s degree awarded in 2014 or later
- Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale or equivalent
- No previous master’s or higher-level qualifications
- Apply for programmes starting in August 2026
Experience
- 2–3 years of relevant full-time work experience
- Strong leadership aspirations and SDG-related motivation
- Must be a national and resident of one of the eligible African countries
Additional Information
- Fully funded: tuition, visa, flights, health insurance, accommodation
- Monthly stipend: €700
- Accommodation support: Paid for first 2 trimesters; stipend in 3rd
- Settling-in and departure allowance provided
- Application Stages: Preliminary Application → Full Application → Interview
- Mandatory English tests: Duolingo (initial) and IELTS (final)
