Background & Job Description

The WTO Internship Programme gives postgraduate students a unique opportunity to work at the heart of multilateral trade. Interns support the organization’s various functions, from trade law to statistics, while gaining insight into international economic cooperation.

Interns are matched with departments that suit their academic backgrounds and professional interests, allowing them to contribute meaningfully to WTO’s mission.

Tasks

Interns may work in the following areas:

  • Trade law and policy analysis
  • Economic and statistical research
  • Translation, communications, and language services
  • HR, IT, finance, procurement
  • External relations and public affairs
  • Library and information management

Qualifications

Education and Certification

  • Must be a national of a WTO member state or accession country
  • Must have completed an undergraduate degree
  • Must have completed at least one year of postgraduate study

Experience

  • Prior work experience is not required, but academic or professional familiarity with international trade or economics is beneficial.

Age

  • Applicants must be aged between 21 and 30 years.

Additional Information

Duration

  • Internships last up to 6 months.

Compensation

  • Interns receive a daily allowance of CHF 60.
  • Travel costs and health insurance are the responsibility of the intern.
