Duties and Responsibilities: As a Copy Editor, the selected consultant will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, clarity, and coherence of UN Women publications related to gender equality, human rights, and peace and security. Responsibilities include:
- Editing, proofreading, and rewriting documents in both English and Khmer languages.
- Adhering to the UN editorial style manual and ensuring consistency in style, formatting, and language usage.
- Collaborating with project teams to review content, identify gaps, and enhance overall quality.
- Correcting spelling errors, typos, grammatical inconsistencies, and ensuring proper citation of sources and references.
- Developing comprehensive tables of contents, acronyms, and other supplementary materials as needed.
- Reviewing layout files to ensure completeness and adherence to publication guidelines.
Duration and Evaluation: The consultancy is structured as a retainer contract with a maximum of 50 working days within the specified period. Payment will be based on the satisfactory completion of deliverables, with consultant performance evaluated on criteria such as timeliness, responsibility, initiative, communication, accuracy, and quality of work.
Required Qualifications: To be eligible for the position, candidates must possess the following qualifications:
- Master’s Degree preferably in English Literature or a related field, or Bachelor’s degree with additional experience in professional editing.
- At least 2 years of professional work experience in translations and knowledge product development related to the gender context in Cambodia or similar settings.
- Demonstrated proficiency in both English and Khmer languages, with a keen understanding of international standards on human rights, women’s rights, and related instruments.
- Strong computer literacy skills, including proficiency in editing software and familiarity with UN publication guidelines and standards.
