Impala Platinum Holdings Limited (Implats) offers an excellent bursary programme aimed at high-potential learners who have completed Grade 12 with university exemption and plan to study in high-demand fields. The bursary not only funds your academic journey, but also guarantees practical training and job placement at Implats during vacation periods and after graduation.
The bursary ensures access to quality education for deserving candidates while securing a talent pipeline for the company’s future workforce.
Bursary Coverage
The Implats Bursary covers the following:
- Full registration and tuition fees
- Accommodation in student residence
- Annual cash allowance
- Laptop allowance from second year onwards
In return, recipients are required to complete vacation work with Implats each year and work for the company for the same duration as the bursary coverage after graduation.

The bursary is available for full-time studies in the following disciplines:
- Engineering
- Mining
- Metallurgy
- Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current)
- Chemistry (up to Honours)
- Geology (up to Honours)

Minimum Requirements
Education
- Matric (Grade 12) with university exemption
- Minimum C symbol in Mathematics and Science
Other Criteria
- Intention to study full-time at a recognised South African university
- Willingness to complete vacation work and serve a post-study work-back period at Implats
