Job Description:
The Measuring, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) and Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) Specialist Consultant will play a pivotal role in advancing climate transparency and enhancing NDC implementation across Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC). This position is vital for ensuring the successful achievement of climate goals outlined in the Paris Agreement. Responsibilities:
Output 1: Quality Assurance and Control of Climate Ambition and Transparency Projects
- Develop comprehensive documentation packages for the closure of Climate Action Enhancement Package (CBIT) projects in the Dominican Republic and Peru.
- Summarize support provided in the context of NDC Action projects in Colombia, Costa Rica, and Argentina.
- Offer recommendations on best practices for project closure and suggest technical next steps for CBIT 2.0 projects in each country. Homebased Consultancy | Measuring, Reporting and Verification Individual Consultant at UNEP
Output 2: Coordination and Moderation of a South-South CBIT Global Coordination Platform and NDC Action Events for the LAC Region for Long-Term Strategies and Transparency
- Coordinate and moderate a South-South CBIT Global Coordination Platform.
- Compile a technical report on a capacity-building workshop for NDCs and transparency in the LAC region.
- Conduct a satisfaction survey to gather feedback from participants.

Output 3: Inform and Assist Projects in Monitoring Efforts to Mainstream Climate Transparency Goals
- Compile a final report on CBIT Honduras and NDC Action projects for Argentina, Colombia, and Costa Rica.
- Facilitate knowledge-sharing and capacity-building on NDCs and Climate Transparency.
Specific Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Facilitate knowledge-sharing and capacity-building sessions on NDCs and Climate Transparency.
- Support cross-cutting coordination within the Climate Change unit.
- Conduct research and analysis on NDC implementation and MRV enhancement initiatives.

- Collaborate with national counterparts to identify priority areas for support.
- Contribute to the dissemination of information on NDC implementation through technical reports and policy briefs.
Qualifications:
Educational Background:
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering, chemical engineering, forestry, environmental sciences, renewable energies, or related field (required).
- Master’s degree in renewable energy, environmental engineering, environmental sciences, ecosystems policy and management, or related field (desirable). Homebased Consultancy | Measuring, Reporting and Verification Individual Consultant at UNEP
Work Experience:
- Minimum four (4) years of professional experience in climate change or environmental projects.
- Experience in IT tools, including Microsoft Office (desirable).
- Knowledge about climate transparency, the Enhanced Transparency Framework (Article 13), the NDC process, and Article 6/Carbon Markets within the Paris Agreement (desirable).
- Experience collaborating with actors in the Latin America and Caribbean region (desirable).
Language:
- Fluency in Spanish (required).
- Fluency in English (required).
