Italy remains a key entry point for refugees and migrants, with increasing numbers of vulnerable groups, including unaccompanied and separated children (UASC), single-parent families, and survivors of gender-based violence. Despite having a robust legal framework, the country’s child protection system faces significant challenges such as fragmented services and disparities in care quality.
To address these issues, UNICEF has developed the Refugee and Migrant Response Platform (RMRP), aimed at harmonizing data collection, monitoring the reception system, and evaluating the impact of UNICEF interventions. This consultancy position plays a crucial role in supporting these efforts through administrative and information management functions.
The consultant will work remotely with potential travel requirements and will support UNICEF’s regional team in Italy by ensuring smooth data management, administrative coordination, and knowledge sharing. Tasks
The consultant will be responsible for key tasks in two main areas:
Information and Knowledge Management:
- Reviewing and entering field report data from UNICEF ECARO’s Migrant and Refugee Programme in Italy into the RMRP.
- Analyzing and processing implementing partners’ monthly reports for integration into the RMRP database.
- Updating internal dashboards with relevant external data sources to support decision-making processes.
- Generating analytical reports from the RMRP to enhance advocacy efforts and inform strategic planning.
Administrative Support:
- Managing the PEC email system (Posta Elettronica Certificata) and ensuring efficient communication.
- Formatting and refining documents, reports, and presentations to ensure clarity and professionalism.
- Drafting, reviewing, and optimizing business correspondence and communication materials for accuracy and effectiveness.
- Organizing and coordinating meeting agendas, documenting key discussions, and ensuring proper dissemination of materials.
- Handling logistical arrangements for meetings, including venue reservations, audiovisual setups, and catering where necessary.

Qualifications
Education and Certification:
- A bachelor’s degree in international relations, political science, social sciences, anthropology, information management, information systems, statistics, social communication, or a related field.
Experience:
- At least five months of experience in administrative/logistical support, office management, or research.
- Proficiency in digital forms and data collection platforms such as KoBo Toolbox, Open Data Kit (ODK), Power BI, Tableau, and Google Data Studio.
- Strong command of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience working in multicultural environments and fostering effective professional relationships.
- Exceptional organizational and time-management skills.
- Fluency in both English and Italian.
- Previous experience with UN agencies is considered an asset.
Additional Information
- Work Location: Home-based in Italy, with potential travel as required.
- Contract Duration: 135 working days over a period of nine months (April 2025 – December 2025).
- Payment Terms: Compensation will be based on satisfactory and timely submission of deliverables.
