Background & Job Description
The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) is a treaty-based international organization dedicated to fostering strong, inclusive, and sustainable economic growth in developing and emerging economies. Its work focuses on helping countries achieve climate-resilient and low-carbon development. The Kenya Country Program is seeking a Green Hydrogen Intern to support various operational and administrative functions, including human resources, procurement, finance, and event planning. This on-site internship in Nairobi, Kenya, provides an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience within an international development context, contributing directly to green growth initiatives.
Tasks
The intern will provide essential operational and administrative support, including:
- Assisting in staff onboarding and logistical arrangements.
- Supporting the planning and execution of events (meetings, seminars, workshops), including vendor coordination, procurement, and communication.
- Providing on-site event support, such as note-taking and evaluation coordination.
- Assisting with procurement planning and requisition processes.
- Supporting finance tasks, including invoice processing and vendor follow-up.
- Performing general administrative duties to ensure efficient office operations.

Qualifications
Education and Certification
Applicants must be enrolled in the final year of a Bachelor’s program, or be a current Master’s or PhD student, or have graduated within the past 12 months. The field of study should be related to GGGI’s work, such as public administration, economics, or finance.
Experience
Candidates need a high level of proficiency in English (written and spoken). A solid understanding of (or willingness to learn about) public administration, finance, and green growth is essential. Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills, the ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite are required. Strong interpersonal skills and an interest in international development, particularly in the African context, are highly valued.
Additional Information
This is a 3-month internship (September to November 2025) located in Nairobi, Kenya. Interns will receive a monthly stipend of USD $500 (unless fully covered by another institution). GGGI will issue a visa support letter, but interns are responsible for obtaining and financing their own travel and necessary documentation. Interns must also provide proof of valid medical insurance. Normal business hours are expected, with leave requiring prior approval. Confidentiality of unpublished information is strictly required. Interns may be eligible for academic credit, and a certificate will be issued upon successful completion.
