The Getty Foundation is inviting global scholars to apply for the Getty Scholars Program 2026/2027. This opportunity provides research residencies for scholars working on art and its histories in a multidisciplinary, collaborative environment at the Getty Center or Getty Villa in Los Angeles.
The program supports innovative research through a residency that lasts three to nine months, depending on the grant category. Scholars will be part of a global cohort advancing knowledge in the arts while accessing the Getty’s renowned collections and resources. Tasks

Qualifications
Education and Certification
- Must hold a PhD awarded before 1 September 2022 for Scholar Grants
- Applicants without a PhD but with equivalent professional experience are also eligible
- Scholars who earned their PhD after 1 September 2022 should apply for a Postdoctoral Fellowship
Experience
- Strong publication or professional record in the humanities, visual arts, architecture, or cultural studies
- International applicants from diverse disciplines encouraged

- 6 months: $43,000
- 9 months: $65,000
