Background & Job Description

This position is for a Communication Officer at UNESCO’s headquarters in Paris, France. The successful candidate will report to the Chief of the Digital Content Unit and be responsible for the creation, coordination, and strategic alignment of all Arabic-language content. The role involves not only producing engaging content but also overseeing regional coordination, managing communication projects in the Arab region, and ensuring the consistent quality of communications across all platforms to highlight UNESCO’s impact.


Tasks

  • Arabic Digital Content Leadership: Serve as the editor-in-chief for Arabic content, managing social media accounts, websites, and digital campaigns.
  • Field Office Communication Coordination: Provide guidance and ensure quality control for Arabic content produced by UNESCO Field Offices.
  • Project Management and External Relations: Manage large-scale communication projects, liaise with internal and external partners, and track project progress and budgets.
  • Arabic Language Quality Assurance: Review and refine all Arabic-language materials to ensure linguistic accuracy and alignment with UNESCO’s messaging.

Qualifications

  • Education and Certification: An advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in communication, journalism, or Arabic language studies is required.
  • Experience: A minimum of 4 years of professional experience in communications, with at least 2 years at the international level, is a must. Proven experience in content development and working on projects in the MENA region is also required.
  • Skills: Expertise in digital platforms, content management systems (CMS), and visual content tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Suite) is essential.
  • Languages: Full professional fluency in Arabic is required. Excellent knowledge of both English and French is also mandatory.
