Background & Job Description

This is a remote internship opportunity for individuals passionate about digital transformation and innovation. The position is part of a global initiative to support the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in implementing its Digital Strategy 2022-2025. The UNDP works across 170 countries to drive sustainable development, and this internship provides a unique chance to contribute to digital advancements in governance, social impact, and technology.

The Chief Digital Office (CDO) at UNDP is leading digital transformation efforts to integrate digital technology into development projects and support governments in building inclusive digital ecosystems. Interns will have the flexibility to start at different times, with applications reviewed on a rolling basis until August 31, 2025.

Tasks

Interns will support various aspects of digital transformation, including but not limited to:

Digital Transformation – Inclusive Digital Ecosystems:

• Assisting in shaping local digital ecosystems for inclusive digital development.
• Supporting research and implementation of digital and data public infrastructure.
• Conducting primary research on topics such as digital inclusion, AI, and ethical technology.
• Managing and disseminating digital knowledge within the organization.
• Contributing to social media assets, blogs, and advocacy content.

Country Office Support & Capacity Building:

• Assessing countries’ digital and AI readiness.
• Supporting the development of national digital and AI strategies.
• Assisting in digital capacity-building initiatives for governments.
• Developing tools and resources for government use.

Digital Strategy Development & Implementation:

• Supporting UNDP’s global positioning in digital thought leadership.
• Conducting research and analysis for senior leadership.
• Assisting in content management for UNDP’s digital guides webpage.
• Evaluating and improving digital strategy implementation.

Business Operations:

• Supporting procurement, finance, and internal operations processes.
• Assisting in compliance with procurement and recruitment policies.
• Contributing to operational efficiency projects.

Partnerships & Strategic Communications:

• Researching potential partnerships with tech companies and non-profits.
• Assisting in outreach and engagement efforts.
• Supporting global and multilateral digital transformation initiatives.

Product Design, Build, and Management:

• Supporting the development of digital products, apps, and AI tools.
• Assisting in software development and implementation efforts.
• Conducting user testing and product enhancement.

Change Management & Transformation:

• Managing UNDP Communities of Practice.
• Tracking and analyzing digital transformation progress.
• Supporting internal communications and knowledge-sharing initiatives.

Qualifications

Education and Certification:

• Enrollment in or recent graduation from a graduate or undergraduate program.
• Relevant academic backgrounds may include digital transformation, technology, data science, business administration, or other related fields.

Experience:

• Interest or prior experience in digital transformation, AI, or technology-driven projects.
• Strong communication, research, and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Internship Stipend and Benefits:
