Background & Job Description
The West Africa Civil Society Institute (WACSI) has announced its Next Generation Internship Programme (NGIP) for 2025, a fully funded, six-month internship designed to prepare young West Africans for impactful careers in civil society. This on-site programme will run from July to December 2025 in Accra, Ghana.
The internship aims to provide participants from The Gambia, Liberia, and Burkina Faso with practical experience in key areas such as Capacity Development, Policy Influencing and Advocacy, and Knowledge Management. Through intensive mentorship and training, interns will build the necessary skills to contribute to the advancement of civil society across the region.
Tasks
Selected interns will be engaged in the following core areas:
- Supporting capacity development initiatives and learning events.
- Assisting with policy research and advocacy strategies.
- Contributing to knowledge production, documentation, and sharing.
- Participating in internal planning, review, and strategic sessions.
- Gaining hands-on experience with operational functions of a regional NGO.

Qualifications
Education and Certification
- A university degree (bachelor’s or equivalent) in international affairs, development studies, sociology, political science, or a related field.
Experience
- 0–3 years of professional experience.
- Strong research and communication skills (both written and verbal).
- Demonstrated interest in civil society, social justice, or development work.
- Proficiency in English or French. Bilingualism is an asset.
