Background & Job Description

The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) is seeking multiple Programme Management Trainees to support its projects in Indonesia. These internships provide an excellent opportunity for students and recent graduates to gain hands-on experience in project management, administration, and international development.

The selected trainees will work under the South East Asia and Pacific Multi-Country Office (EAPMCO), which oversees 24 countries in the region. UNOPS EAPMCO manages various projects related to climate change, digital transformation, environmental sustainability, and humanitarian action.

This internship is designed to enhance project management skills and provide exposure to global development initiatives. The selected candidates will be based in Jakarta or Palembang (South Sumatra), Indonesia, depending on project needs.

Tasks

The Programme Management Trainee will support project teams in the following areas:

  • Research & Analysis: Collecting and analyzing data on projects and stakeholders.
  • Project & Procurement Monitoring: Assisting with project planning, tracking procurement activities, and ensuring compliance.
  • Document Preparation: Supporting the creation of project reports, financial documents, and communication materials.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Helping to coordinate with partners, government agencies, and internal teams.
  • Knowledge Management: Assisting in organizing workshops, preparing training materials, and facilitating knowledge-sharing sessions.
  • Administrative Support: Taking meeting minutes, preparing presentations, and assisting in daily operational tasks.

Qualifications

Education and Certification

  • A Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in International Affairs, Social Sciences, Business Administration, Project Management, Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields.
  • Candidates must be currently enrolled in a Master’s or Ph.D. program or have graduated within the last three years.
  • A project management certification (PMP, PRINCE2) is an advantage.

Experience

  • Previous experience in international development, project management, procurement, administration, operations, or human resources is desirable.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides) or similar tools.
  • Ability to work in a multicultural, international environment.

  • Contract Type: Internship
  • Duration: 6 months (with the possibility of extension based on performance and funding)
  • Location: Jakarta or Palembang, Indonesia
  • Stipend: A monthly stipend may be provided (depending on UNOPS policies).
