Role Overview
UNOPS is currently seeking a dynamic and dedicated Programme Management Specialist to serve as the National Coordinator for the South China Sea SAP (SCS SAP) project in Thailand. This pivotal role offers a unique opportunity to lead and coordinate efforts aimed at promoting climate action, environmental conservation, and sustainable development in the region. As the National Coordinator, you will play a central role in driving forward the objectives of the SCS SAP project, working closely with stakeholders, partners, and communities to ensure the successful implementation of key initiatives. This is a challenging yet rewarding role that requires a blend of strategic vision, technical expertise, and strong leadership skills.
Responsibilities
As the National Coordinator for the SCS SAP project, you will be responsible for:
- Project Coordination: Overseeing all aspects of project implementation, including planning, budgeting, and monitoring progress towards established goals and targets.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, local communities, and international partners.
- Technical Support: Providing expert advice and guidance on issues related to climate change, environmental sustainability, and natural resource management.
- Capacity Building: Developing and implementing capacity-building initiatives to strengthen the skills and capabilities of project partners and stakeholders.
- Knowledge Sharing: Facilitating the exchange of knowledge, best practices, and lessons learned among project stakeholders to enhance project impact and effectiveness.
- Monitoring and Evaluation: Establishing robust monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to track project outcomes, identify areas for improvement, and ensure accountability and transparency.
Qualifications and Experience
To be successful in this role, you should possess:
- Education: An advanced degree (Master’s or equivalent) in a relevant field such as environmental science, sustainable development, or project management.
- Experience: At least five years of progressive experience in programme management, project coordination, or related fields, preferably with experience working in international development or environmental conservation.
- Language Skills: Fluency in English is required, with proficiency in Thai considered an asset.

Contract Details
This position is offered on a local Individual Contractor Agreement (ICA) basis, with a duration of 12 months, renewable subject to performance and availability of funds.
