Functions of the Post
As an intern in the Division for Gender Equality, you will work under the overall authority of the Director of the Division. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Assisting in monitoring and reporting on activities related to global priority gender equality initiatives.
- Analyzing documents and projects related to gender equality and drafting reports, briefings, and notes.
- Developing communication materials for the Division, including content for social media platforms and the Division’s website.
- Supporting the organization of conferences, events, and outreach initiatives focused on gender equality.
- Maintaining contacts and cooperation with stakeholders and partners.
- Assisting in training activities and the development of tools and guidelines.
Expected Contribution
As an intern, you will actively participate in all assigned tasks and duties. You will demonstrate flexibility and readiness to engage in new tasks as they arise, contributing to the overall objectives of the Division for Gender Equality.
Learning Objectives
The internship aims to provide you with professional experience in implementing gender equality initiatives at UNESCO. You will supplement your graduate-level studies with practical knowledge and gain insights into UNESCO’s functioning and working methods. Specific learning objectives will be discussed at the beginning of the internship assignment.

Required Qualifications
To be eligible for the internship, you must meet the following criteria:

- Academic qualifications: Enrolled in or recently graduated from a graduate program (Master’s degree, PhD, or equivalent)
- Languages: Excellent command of English or French, with knowledge of the other language considered an asset
- Computer skills: Proficiency in computer systems and office-related software
- Team player: Ability to work well in a team and adapt to an international working environment
- Communication skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Benefits and Entitlements
- Interns are not remunerated by UNESCO.
- Interns are entitled to 2.5 days of leave per month during their internship.
